Best practices for troubleshooting access
Last updated: 7 May 2026
What this does
Use this guide when a user cannot see or use a module, workspace, project, task, template, or action in IMPACT.
Current access and functionality
- Verified against the current
impact-web,impact-client,impact-marketplace, andimpact-portalcode on 2026-05-07. - Access is controlled by a combination of account, workspace, role, permission, project/team assignment, feature flags, subscription entitlement, feature limits, and item ownership.
- Missing navigation usually means the app has hidden an unavailable module or action.
- Mobile and web can expose different levels of setup functionality; some admin actions remain web-first.
Troubleshooting order
- Confirm the user is signed in with the expected account.
- Confirm the selected workspace or company is correct.
- Confirm workspace membership is active.
- Confirm role and permission level.
- Confirm project, team, task, or respondent assignment.
- Confirm subscription entitlement and feature limit.
- Confirm feature flag or deployment availability.
- Confirm the item exists in the expected touchpoint, such as
impact-web,impact-client, orimpact-marketplace. - Ask the user to refresh, reconnect, or sign out and back in after access changes.
Common access patterns
- Module missing for everyone: check entitlement or feature flag.
- Module visible to admins only: check role and permission.
- Project missing for one user: check workspace, project membership, filters, and assignment.
- Marketplace item owned but unavailable for import: check item type, account, destination feature, and admin permission.
- Mobile can view but not edit: the action may be web-first or stage/role-limited.
Common issues
- Issue: “I am an admin but cannot see it.” Fix: Admin role does not override missing entitlement or disabled feature flags.
- Issue: “It works in web but not mobile.” Fix: Confirm the mobile app exposes that action; some setup remains web-first.
- Issue: “The user accepted the invite but sees nothing.” Fix: Check workspace selection and assign them to the relevant team/project/task.
